Dedza suspend Ngwira
FDH Bank Premiership side Goshen City Dedza Dynamos have suspended head coach Alex Ngwira in the wake of the team’s poor performance.
The club announced the decision in a statement issued yesterday, saying Ngwira was suspended alongside second assistant coach Christopher Zinyongo, strikers’ trainer and data analyst Jimmy Zakazaka and goalkeepers’ coach Charles Sikwewa.

Part of the statement reads: “The decision follows a careful consideration of the technical assessment and the team’s poor performance in the FDH Premiership as it sits 16th [bottom] on the log table.
“The executive committee believes that the action is necessary to allow a comprehensive review of the team’s technical set-up and future direction.”
The club has since appointed Lazarous Deco Nyemera and Bruno Luke Milanzie as interim coaches to take charge of the team.
Ngwira was initially given an ultimatum to win three games or face the chop, but he lost to Masters FC and Blue Eagles before defeating Kamuzu Barracks 1-0.
However, after the three-week international break, Dedza succumbed to a 3-0 loss to Mafco.
The tactician, who attributed the club’s poor start to the season to a shoddy pre-season after the team finished the previous campaign late due to Castel Challenge Cup commitments, confirmed receiving the suspension letter and said he would wait to hear the club’s next course of action.
The former Mzuzu City Hammers and Mighty Wanderers coach becomes the third top-flight coach to be suspended this season as pressure mounts on struggling teams.
Ekhaya FC were the first club to send Enos Chatama on forced leave just two matches into the 2026 campaign. He has since resumed work.
Creck Sporting Club also suspended Eliah Kananji before eventually dismissing him. He was subsequently replaced by former Flames coach Ernest Mtawali.
